Al Montoya is an American professional ice hockey Goaltender who currently plays for the Florida Panthers. Originally drafted 6th Overall by the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Montoya became the first Cuban-American to play in the NHL. Prior to the NHL, Montoya backstopped the United States to their first IIHF Under-20 World Championship in 2004 in addition to a successful three-year career at the University of Michigan. Al made his NHL debut during the 2008-09 Season as a member of the Phoenix Coyotes and recorded a shutout against the Colorado Avalanche. Al has also played for the New York Islanders and Winnipeg Jets during his 11-year NHL Career.
