After being drafted in 2010, AJ Schugel took a non-linear path before making his major league debut. Between 2010 and 2013, Schugel progressed nicely through Rookie Ball, Low-A, High-A, and AA baseball before joining the AAA Pacific Coast League in 2013. Notoriously a hitter-friendly league, Schugel struggled somewhat and a foot injury prematurely ended his season. The following year, Schugel was traded to Seattle and a return to AA marked the first time in AJ’s career that he took a step back in his career progression. After another year of bouncing between teams and leagues, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and is excited about his opportunity with the team.
